Nursing students’ evolving professional values: Capturing their journey through co-operative inquiry

Despite a worldwide emphasis in nursing codes of practice that state nurses must uphold professional values to be caring and compassionate, evidence continues emerge poor-quality care standards. Existing literature attests tendency deteriorating as students’ progress through their programme. In response, one university England exposed pre-registration students values-based curriculum which embedded Todres et al.’s (2009) Humanising Values Framework. This paper describes the later stages co-operative inquiry, where participants explore evolving around person-centred approaches they engaged with clinical practice. Data were collected between 2013 2016. Findings reveal how developed confidence resilience face situations challenged value base by internalising humanised approach care.
